Well parents, grandparents brothers and sisters it is time! OLC Kids is once again starting up. This week Sunday, September 13th will be our first time back meeting, and we are so excited about this! All of us have missed you, and we look forward to seeing you all real soon. We ask that you pray for all of us as leaders and volunteers, it is a time of big changes and new things. We don't really know what this is going to look like fully just yet. We do know that God is encouraging us to keep pushing forward with kid's ministry and that is what we are doing!
So let's talk change.
There used to be 3 different classrooms, 2-3 years old, 4-5 years old, and then ages 6 and up. We will be combining the 4-5 and ages 6 and up into one big classroom. This way it is easy for cleaning, sanitizing etc and puts a lot less strain on our volunteers. The 2-3's will still be meeting in their usual classroom since the age difference is quite a bit. While we are praying that things go back to normal soon, we do not know when full restrictions will be removed. As far as masks are concerned we are encouraging everyone to wear them but not enforcing it, if you are more comfortable with your child wearing a mask that is fine, or if you are ok with no mask that is fine as well. We want to create an environment that is welcoming to all kids and that is not restrictive plus we still want to be able to interact with all the kids on a personal level. I have asked our volunteers to wear them when engaging with all the kids as it is hard to maintain distancing when interacting with kids. If our volunteers are speaking to the group as a whole they do not need to have the masks on, so they can be clearly understood.
For the check-in station, all children no matter what age must be checked in and checked out by a parent, and there will not be a tablet station set up for self-check-in at this time. The check-in station and the classrooms will be open at 10:15 so there will be a uniform entry for all kids, so please ensure to have your children down early enough to be checked in and in their appropriate classroom. If your child is sick please keep them upstairs with you, it is hard for us as volunteers to be cleaning up after a child who is not feeling well and this helps prevent the spread of illness to any of the kids and to our volunteers.
As I said earlier we are waiting to have all of our families back here again, we miss you and we have been waiting for you. Our church family has been lacking the noise of kids running around and their laughter that cannot be contained and that is all too often very contagious. If you have any questions about anything pertaining to children's ministry feel free to contact me and I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Yours in Christ
