ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
Know and Believe the Love
God loves us! That is such a wonderful truth and promise that God has given us. In the Bible, God exclaims His love for us over 300 times! It is the main theme in the Bible, yet, how often do we stop and think about God's love for us? Like really stop and meditate on it and what it means in our lives?
God's love for us is something that we know, yet while we are on this earth we'll never be able to fully grasp the amazing depth of His love for us. It is so immense! And even though we can't fully comprehend it now, Paul prayed this for believers in the book of Ephesians:
"(That you may really come) to know (practically for yourselves) the love of Christ which far surpasses mere knowledge (without experience)..." (Eph. 3:19a, amplified version)
According to this verse then, we can actually grow more and more in our understanding and experience of Christ's love for us!
How do we do that?
1 John 4:16 has an important point for us in learning about God's immeasureable love.
"So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him." 1 John 4:16, ESV.
We see in this verse that there are two very important factors to growing in the knowledge and experience of God's love for us. The first is that we need to know the love of God. And the second is to believe His love. We can know His love by reading His Word and spending quiet time in prayer and devotion to Him each day. The next step is believing God's love for us. Believing requires faith, and the bible says that "faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God". (Romans 10:17).
The more we read and hear what God's Word says about His love for us, the more we will understand and experience the power of it in our lives, and the more we know and experience it in our lives, the more we will believe it.
 "So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him."1 John 4:16 ESV

 OLC Thrive Young Adults meets Friday evenings at 7:00 PM at the church! If you are between the age of 18-30, come on out for a great time of fellowship and studying God's Word together!
VBS is just a couple of weeks away!July 15 - 18 & July 22 - 25. Ages 5 - 10.

OLC's Family Picnic is coming up on Sunday, July 28th after the service at the Sholer's property! There will be lots of great fellowship, amazing food, and fun activities! Sign-up and directions will be available at the Connect Hub.
