ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
Ambassadors for Christ In 2 Corinthians 5:20, the Bible says:
"So we are Christ's ambassadors; God making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead "Come back to God" (NLT).
What is an ambassador? According to Oxford Languages, an ambassador is a person who is "an accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country".
If we think about this as it applies to us, God is the King and Ruler of His Kingdom. We have been given the role of representing Him on the earth. This isn't something optional that we were asked if we wanted to do. If we have decided to become a Christian, it means that we also stepped into this role as an ambassador for Christ. It can be humbling to think that God has given us such a responsibility - to be considered someone that the world can look at and say "That is someone who represents God". Nevertheless, according to the Bible, that is exactly who we are. Every day we walk this earth, we are showing the world who our God is. We are His mouthpiece to speak to those around us.
The question is, are we taking our job seriously? Are we acting as His representative every day and in every situation, to the best of our ability, or only when we feel like it? Or only on Sunday mornings in front of the pastor and our Christian friends?
We will never be perfect ambassadors of Christ on our own, but we do have the Holy Spirit in our lives to help us. And if anyone can show us how to shine forth Christ's love into this world, the Holy Spirit is the best teacher there is! Let's ask the Holy Spirit today how we can be ambassadors for Christ in this world, and represent Him as we go about our week.
So we are Christ's ambassadors; God is making His appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead "Come back to God".2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT)
