ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
Give Thanks & Praise!
The Hebrew and Greek words for gratitude are mentioned 157 times in the bible.
The Greek word Eucharisteo, in its simplest terms, means "give thanks", however a deeper study of this word reveals it is made up of a combination of words. The root word is the Greek word Charis, which means "grace" and its derivative Chara means "joy".
What we begin to see painted before us is a picture of the very heart of Thanksgiving - Joy at God's amazing gift of grace toward us!
The more we become aware of the immense goodness of God in our lives - even in the midst of troubling circumstances - the more thankfulness fills our hearts. The grace that He has given us humbles us, and joy springs forth!
Take a look at Psalm 100, verse 4 in the Amplified version:
Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His Name!
As we gather together to celebrate all of the wonderful blessings that God has given us this year, let's reflect on how truly great His grace is toward us and praise Him for all He has done!
