ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
Rejoice, Praise, and Give Thanks Thanksgiving day has just passed, yet the season of thankfulness and gratitude lingers on in our hearts long after the turkey and the pumpkin pie have been eaten.
There's something about the autumn season that causes us to stop and reflect on the blessings that we have received and the goodness of God towards us.
We see field upon field of ripe grain and the farmers bringing in their harvest. As we gather around the table with friends and family, we realize how blessed we truly are.
We reflect on the fact that Thanksgiving is much more than a day, or even a season. It's a posture of our hearts, and it continues throughout the year. At the same time, it's good to take this opportunity to be reminded of the countless times God has been there for us, provided for us, and given us wisdom when we've needed it. How He has been the answer in our lives no matter what the question was. That realization leads us to rejoice in the goodness of God towards us and reminds us to turn to Him in prayer when we face new challenges in the coming days. Rejoice, pray, give thanks, repeat.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 says,
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. (NIV)
Continuing to foster this heart posture of gratitude in our lives is part of God's will for us. As we continue to remember and thank Him for what He has already done in our lives, our hearts rejoice at His goodness towards us and give us an anchor to hold onto. We can call out to Him in prayer and know that He will be there with us no matter what we face.
Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus!"1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV)
