ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
Where Your Treasure Is ... There are 24 hours in a day. 1,440 minutes. 86,400 seconds. Time is one of those things that we only have so much of.
There are some things that most of us have to make time for if we want to survive and thrive in this world: work and sleep are a couple of obvious ones. Time is the currency of life. We all have the same number of minutes each day, and we get to decide how we spend them. And once we spend them, we can't get them back.
What we spend our time on shows where our focus is. If we want a house, we need to work to pay for it. If we want a clean house, we need to spend time to keep it clean (or money to pay someone else to clean it!). If we want strong relationships, we need to invest time into them. And if we want to have a deeper relationship with Christ, we need to spend the time.
In Matthew 6:21, Jesus said, "Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."
We often discuss that verse relating to finances, and it does relate to them. But this verse can also relate to how we spend our time as well.
Are we putting first things first when it comes to how we spend our time, especially our free time?
Let us be challenged this week to observe how we designate this gift of time that we've been given each day. Let's get our time in order and spend it wisely.
"Where your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be." Matthew 6:21 (NLT)
