ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS

Truly following Christ requires us to go all in. The New Testament frequently reminds us that we can either live in the Spirit or the flesh, but never both at the same time, as the Spirit and flesh are opposing natures. Jesus died so that through Him we might also die to our old way of living, which is entirely in the flesh, or "sin nature," and instead have access to a new life led by the Holy Spirit!

When we are baptized, we are declaring to ourselves and the world that we have given up all of our own ways of living to be buried just as Christ was buried. Then, just as Jesus rose from the grave, as we come up from the water, we declare that we are living a NEW LIFE in the power of the Spirit!

"What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."

ANNOUNCEMENTS

• Just a reminder to everyone who got a ticket to the WMC Fundraiser Banquet that it's happening tonight at 6:00 pm at Third Day Church! The banquet is full, so no walk-ins, please! Also note that prayer is cancelled tonight due to the banquet.

• "Plan to Protect" training is happening this Friday from 7:00-9:00 pm! If you are a part of any kind of ministry here at OLC, you are required for legal purposes to attend this training session! Please make it a priority and come out! Refreshments will be provided.

 

• We're so excited for our baptism service happening on Sunday! We have over 20 people getting water baptized! If you desire to get baptized at this service, please let Pastor Wayne know right away!

• We're looking for someone to fill a part-time admin staff position here at OLC starting at the beginning of June! If you want to apply or see the details of what this job entails, you can get an application form from the Connect Hub!

• We've begun planning our VBS for July, and we need volunteers to make it a success! If this is something you'd like to help us out with, please talk to Pastor Mitchell!

• A Baby shower for Lainey & soon-to-arrive baby boy DaRosa is being held here at OLC on May 18th from 2:00-4:00 pm! All ladies (and young ladies!) are invited to come out for a time of encouraging Lainey and celebrating with her in this exciting time.
