ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS

Summer of Rest 
Yay summer! We are now in full swing! Summertime is supposed to be a time of rest and relaxation.  A time of unplugging from our normal day-to-day routines and taking time to refresh and unwind. At least in theory. Our summer schedules often look a lot different than they do for the rest of the year. School is out, vacations are booked, and we all tend to look forward to a slightly slower pace.
 
Yet, once summer begins, it's very easy to let our schedules quickly become overcrowded again: new projects, renovations, camps, traveling, etc. While these things can all be a nice change of pace and make our summer exciting and fulfilling, let's be careful to not let our summer months become so packed that we miss out on the rest and simple connections that this season can bring. Let's purposefully take time to rest, to connect with loved ones, with our church family, and most importantly, with God.

Jesus knew the importance of taking time to rest. In Mark chapter 6. Jesus and His disciples were doing God's work and serving the people. Yet, at some point, Jesus tells His disciples:

Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." 

So, they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.

This summer, let's do lots of amazing things! But let's also rest and connect, and receive what God wants to impart to us this season!

Experiencing God in Prayer happens Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM at the Church. Join us for a powerful time of corporate prayer as we lift up the Name of Jesus!

OLC Thrive Young Adults will meet on Wednesday this week at 7:00 PM at Galaxy Bowling! The address is 1702 23 Street North in Lethbridge. Come on out for a great time of connection and fun!


VBS registration

VBS starts next week!
July 15 - 18 & July 22 - 25.   Ages 5 - 10.  
 There are still a few spots open, so if you know a child who would like to attend, talk to Pastor Mitchell or contact the church! Please also pray for the kids and all of the volunteers, that they will all experience God in a powerful way!


Join us for a picnic at the Scholers property after church on July 28th

OLC's Family Picnic is coming up on Sunday, July 28th after the service at the Sholer's property! There will be lots of great fellowship, amazing food, and fun activities! Sign-up and directions will be available at the Connect Hub.


Church at Festival Square

Join us for a special church service at Festival Square on Sunday, August 4th at 10:30 AM! Across the street from Galt Gardens and beside The Gate Church downtown.
