ENCOURAGING THOUGHTS
Our Source Of Comfort As we enter into the Christmas season, it is a joyous time of celebration and hope! A time of gathering together and reconnecting with loved ones!
But for many, Christmas brings with it a mixture of emotions; feelings of hope mixed with grief, joy mixed with sadness, and connection mixed with loneliness and loss. It's a reminder of a picture of what Christmas has been, and how it has changed over time. Sometimes in good ways, and sometimes in very hard ways. Holidays can cause those feelings to rise to the surface of our minds and blindside us. How do we celebrate the joy of Christmas, when we feel the joy has been drained from us?
It's comforting to remember that God is no stranger to grief and suffering and He is our source of comfort during the hardest times in our lives.
When the holidays bring uncertainty and waves of loss, remember that the Lord is there in the midst of all that we feel - both the good and the hard.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 reminds us: "All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us."
Lord, help us to receive your comfort this holiday season, and to pray for and offer the comfort that you've given us to others.
"All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us." 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NLT)
